IPX7 vs IP67 Explained | Which is Better?

December 11, 2020 by seo123

If we compare IPX7 vs IP67, IPX7 means the product is only waterproof and can be submerged in water of 1-meter depth for 30-minutes. IP67 is better than IPX7 because it is fully dustproof and waterproof. IP67 can also be submerged in water for 30 minutes at a depth of 1-meter and can be used in dirty places.

In IPX7, “X” means that particular device has not undergone test for protection against solid objects (dust). While in IP67, X has maximum value of “6” which shows that device is fully dustproof. In IPX7, X could be any number from 0-6 that we actually don’t know because the manufacturer has not tested device for it.

Which Product is better to buy, IPX7 or IP67?

Of course, you should go for IP67 as we have proved it is better than IPX7 from the above discussion. However, it is decided based on your need.

If you are going to use the product only at your home or in a clean area with no dust at all, you may go for IPX7 because it is waterproof and can bear water conditions and it is never going to face dust conditions.

On the other hand, if you are living in a dust area or anticipate using that product in such an area, you must look for an IP67 rating. IP67 and IP68 are also called weather-proof products because these can handle all types of weather conditions including rain and dust etc.
